NGC 6744 (also known as the Pavo galaxy) is an intermediate spiral galaxy in the constellation Pavo. This galaxy is one of the largest spiral galaxies and is considered to be a mimic of our Milky Way. The distorted companion galaxy (on the top) is called NGC 6744A and is very similar to the Magellanic Clouds.
